Barefooted Weaver
Although my professional background includes roles as a Dental Assistant and Massage Therapist, my heart has always been drawn to intricate world of Fiber Arts.
My weaving journey began in the late 70s when a friend persuaded me to take a rag rug class at The Fiber Arts Studio in Waterloo, Iowa. That pivotal experience ignited a lifelong love affair with weaving. I've dedicated over 35 years to this craft , during which I had the privilege of studying under Master Weaver Mina Hallett , thanks to two grants from The Iowa Arts Council Mina not only imparted invaluable knowledge about weaving patterns , warping techniques , and yarns but also became a cherished friend.
My weaving style is deeply rooted in tradition, and I find joy in creating pieces inspired by American overshot patterns and Scandinavian designs. Natural fibers like cotton, linen, merino wool, Tencel, and chenille find their way into my weavings, adding a touch of authenticity to each piece.
I've had the pleasure of sharing my creations with the Midwest community, traveling alongside my family to participate in various Art & Craft sales. My collection includes a diverse range of woven items ,from rugs and scarves to placemats, totes, and purses. Each piece is a reflection of the passion and enjoyment I've poured into the art of weaving .
I sincerely hope that you derive as much pleasure from my rugs, scarves, placemats, totes and purses as I have experienced in weaving them .
Welcome to the world of Barefooted Weaver.
